The Audi e-tron GT is one of the 2022 World Car Awards winners in New York. The Audi e-tron GT was nominated for World Electric Vehicle of the Year, World Performance Car, and World Car Design. The e-tron GT won the title of World Performance Car at the world's largest and most prestigious award ceremony for new cars. In addition, more than 100 motoring journalists worldwide had thoroughly tested the vehicles that qualified and subsequently voted on them.
"We are delighted that the fully-electric Audi e-tron GT quattro was a finalist in three categories just one year after its world premiere," said Oliver Hoffmann, head of technical development at AUDI AG the award ceremony. "The truth that the Audi e-tron GT quattro bears the title 'World Performance Car,' and that this award, therefore, goes to Audi for the fifth time, naturally makes us particularly proud. The Audi e-tron GT quattro demonstrates that electric mobility can be Climate-friendly, dynamic, and captivating simultaneously, which is why it is essential to our commitment to electric mobility. From 2026, Audi will only launch new models with electric powertrains on the global market, and from 2025 onwards, all production at Audi's locations will be CO2-neutral.
The performance that gave the Audi e-tron GT quattro its World Performance Car award is primarily ensured by a sophisticated thermal management system. In the Audi e-tron GT quattro, the system consists of four thermal circuits. This means that the battery and components of the driveline each maintain their ideal temperature, resulting in performance being repeated repeatedly.
Thanks to the intelligent thermal control, the e-tron GT quattro - if the Audi e-tron route planner is used - will ensure that the battery is within an ideal temperature range for charging, depending on the outside temperature, which is helpful for fast charging with up to 270 kW.
Audi is the most flourishing carmaker in the history of the World Car Awards. This year's award brings Audi to eleven first places at the World Car Awards. This makes Audi the most successful manufacturer in the history of the competition.
