Ferrari is electrifying but is still taking its time with fully electric cars. Last year, the brand's newest plug-in hybrid car, the 296 GTB plug-in hybrid sports car, was launched. In 2022, the range will be expanded to include an open-top model variant: Ferrari 296 GTS.
The 2022 Ferrari 296 GTS is a convertible version of the Ferrari 296 GTB two-seater coupe. The drive of the Ferrari 296 GTS is no different from that of the closed model: in addition to the 488 kW (663 hp) petrol unit, an electric motor with 122 kW (166 hp) is installed at the rear. The system output is 610 kW (830 hp). Like the coupé, it goes from zero to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. It takes 0.3 seconds longer to reach 200 km/h at 7.6 seconds. The top speed of both models is over 330 km/h.
According to Ferrari, the focus of the GTS design was to retain the main features of the Ferrari 296 GTB. The aerodynamics and thermal efficiency should also be similar despite the compromises required in a convertible. Customers essentially choose between a closed and an open version of the series. Pricing and delivery dates for the 2022 Ferrari 296 GTS plug-in hybrid sports car have not yet been announced. The Ferrari 296 GTB has a price of 269,000 euros.
