Hyundai has announced that its highly anticipated IONIQ 6 First Edition, the second model in its EV-dedicated IONIQ line-up brand, has sold out within less than 24 hours of pre-sales opening. The company said customers snapped up the 2,500 exclusively limited units of the First Edition model in its key EV markets – Germany, the UK, France, Norway, and the Netherlands.

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 First Edition is a preview of the official launch of the IONIQ 6 at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 is a sleek and futuristic sedan that redefines what a car should be. Its aerodynamically sculpted silhouette, long driving range, and interior elevate the electric mobility experience for customers.

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 First Edition model comes with all-wheel drive (AWD) and a long-range 77.4-kWh battery pack that delivers an impressive driving range of 519 km (WLTP) on a single charge. It also features dual motors that provide 325 PS (239 kW) and 605 Nm of instant torque for exhilarating performance.

In addition to these specifications, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 First Edition boasts a range of exclusive exterior and interior design elements that make it stand out from the crowd. These include an eye-catching matte black finish on its 20-inch wheels, black aluminum ‘H’ emblems on the front bumper and rear boot door underline, exclusive leather combination seats featuring Grey Tartan fabric inspired by Hyundai’s Prophecy EV concept, and dedicated First Edition ECONYL floor mats with Grey Tartan highlights.

Customers who were able to pre-order IONIQ 6 First Edition online will receive their vehicle between March and April 2023. Even customers who cannot pre-order will receive an offer from their dealer.

This extraordinarily high interest in and demand for Hyundai IONIQ 6 First Edition underscores Hyundai’s leadership in zero-emission mobility,” said Michael Cole, President & CEO at Hyundai Motor Europe. “With its aerodynamically sculpted silhouette, long driving range, and interior that elevates the electric mobility experience for customers, IONIQ 6 redefines what a car should be. We are certain that European customers will be immediately drawn to our Electrified Streamliner.”

The IONIQ line-up brand is part of Hyundai’s global push to secure raw materials for electric vehicle batteries. The company aims to become carbon net zero by 2038 and plans to launch more than 30 new electric models by 2025. It has also announced other initiatives to support its electrification strategies, such as partnering with battery makers CATL, BYD, Samsung SDI, LG Chem, and SVOLT; investing $1 billion in Brazil for electric car production; launching e-mobility services; joining forces with Daimler Truck for hydrogen fuel cell systems; collaborating with Google on cloud-based digital services.

Hyundai’s vision is to drive progress towards zero emissions by offering customers tailored solutions that meet their needs while reducing their environmental impact. By selling out IONIQ 6 First Edition in less than a day, Hyundai has taken another step towards making this vision a reality.
